KTET Eligibility Criteria 2023
In order to be eligible for KTET Category 1, Category 2, Category 3 and
Category 4, aspirants need to possess the minimum educational
qualifications.
KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 1 (Lower Primary Classes)
Aspirants meet KTET eligibility criteria if they possess any of the below
mentioned educational qualifications:
- Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary or (or its equivalent) with at least 45 per cent marks and two years Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name known] conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent.
OR
- Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45 per cent marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure), Regulations 2002.
OR
- Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 4 years Bachelor of Elementary Education (BElEd).
OR
- Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education).
Note: Relaxation of 5 per cent in qualifying marks is admissible
for candidates belonging to SC/ST and Differently abled categories. Also,
relaxation of 3 per cent in qualifying marks is given to OBC & OEC
candidates.
KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 2 (Upper Primary Classes)
Aspirants meet KTET eligibility criteria if they possess any of the below
mentioned educational qualifications:
- BA/BSc/BCom and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name known] conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent.
OR
- BA/BSc/BCom with at least 45 per cent marks and 1 year Bachelor in Education (BEd), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition, Norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard.
OR
- Higher Secondary/Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (BElEd)
OR
- Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50 per cent marks and 4 year BA/B.Sc.Ed or BA Ed or B.Sc.Ed.
Note: Relaxation up to 5 per cent in the qualifying marks shall be
allowed to the candidates belonging to SC/ST and Differently abled
categories. Also, 3 per cent relaxation in the minimum qualifying marks is
admissible for OBC & OEC candidates.
KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 3 (High School Classes)
Aspirants meet KTET eligibility criteria if they possess any of
the below mentioned educational qualifications:
- BA/BSc/BCom with at least 45 per cent marks and a B.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned (from any one of the Universities in Kerala or have acquired these qualifications from any other Universities recognised as equivalent thereto)
- For Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, those who have MScEd Degree in the subject concerned with not less than 50 per cent marks from one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT will be eligible to apply. For Botany and Zoology subjects, those with MScEd Degree in Life Science with not less than 50 per cent marks from any of the Regional Institutes of Education are eligible to apply.
- BA or equivalent with at least 45 per cent marks and who passed in LTTC are eligible to apply.
Additional eligibility criteria for KTET 2023 Category II aspirants is as
follows:
- Candidates, who have acquired a Diploma/Degree in teaching in any subject and are approved by Universities/NCTE/Board of Examinations/Govt. of Kerala, are eligible to apply for K-TET III. They will have to produce the equivalency certificate as recognized by any of the Universities in Kerala/the Government of Kerala.
- Candidates who have acquired their qualifications through recognised correspondence courses/ Open universities should obtain and furnish certificates of recognition and equivalency from any one of the Universities in Kerala.
- For considering the minimum qualifications, the marks for main and subsidiary papers only will be considered.
Note: Candidates belonging to SC/ST and differently-abled
categories shall be granted a relaxation of 5 per cent marks in the minimum
qualifying marks. Relaxation of 3 per cent in the qualifying marks is
admissible to OBC & OEC candidates to appear for the K-TET- III.
KTET Eligibility Criteria for Category 4 (Language Teachers, Specialist Teachers and Physical Education teachers)
- Candidates who possess the required qualifications for the post of Language Teachers of Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit & Urdu (up to Upper Primary level), Specialist teachers & Physical Education teachers as mentioned in Chapter XXXI of KERALA EDUCATION ACT AND RULES are eligible to apply for KTET 4.
KTET Syllabus 2023
Kerala Pareeksha Bhavan prescribes the KTET syllabus 2023 for
Category 1, 2, 3 and 4 papers. It is important for candidates to know the
KTET syllabus 2023 to be familiar with the total number of subjects, the
number of questions, important topics and marks distribution. The KTET
syllabus differs for all the categories such as Category 1 for Lower Primary
classes, Category 2 for Upper Primary classes, Category 3 for High School
classes and Category 4 for Language Teachers, Specialist Teachers and
Physical Education teachers.
KTET Exam Pattern 2023
KTET exam pattern highlights the overall structure of the exam including the total marks, section-wise marking scheme, number of subjects, total number of questions and time duration. We have explained the details of the KTET exam pattern 2023 for all four categories below. The exam pattern of all the four category papers is different. However, all the categories share the same number of questions and marking scheme. Each paper is of 2 hours thirty minutes duration and comprises 150 questions of one mark each.
